There were no sisters my age in my congregation Weatherford, Texas in the late 70's and early 80's so I had no one to even ask for a date.
I was Pioneering at the time and met a very pretty Pioneer sister named Donna Lawson who lived in Hillsboro, Texas about 70 miles from Weatherford.
I hoped to get something started with her and told my friend Donis Hutson about this great girl. We met up at the next Circuit Assembly. I introduced her to Donis and I swear I could actually see the sparks fly between them. Within a year they were married.
I was 21 when I had my first date. Marge was 10 years older then me and the only single woman in my congregation under 60. We went to dinner and a movie then parked in front of her house were I had my first kiss. Absolutely amazing. It was everything and more that I had dreamed. We kissed until out lips were numb. As we were kissing a police car pulled up beside us. A worldly cop that she had been dating and of course had not told me or any of the other Witnesses about. He just sat in his car looking at us and we kept lying down on the front seat of my car for what seemed an eternity. He finally drove off and we kept kissing. I walked her to her door where she thrusted her pelvis against mine and I thought I was going to explode from joy. She was having sex with a lot of worldly guys but would not have sex with me because I was a virgin. Seven years later I was no longer a virgin and we had sex for the first time and yes it was worth waiting seven years for. Marge and I have known each other for over 25 years. She has been married and divorced several times while I have never been married but I have lived with women. When Marge and I see each other we still have incredibly amazing sex.

i know of some people that regularly speak untruth and think there's just nothing wrong with it.
Now that I am free of the Theocratic Warfare bull, I think a lie is wrong under any and all circimstances. It makes no difference if some one is "entitled" to the information or not. A lie is wrong even if it will make you look bad or cost you money.

our species is evolveing consciousness for its survival,,our minds will expand to greater understandings because our spiecies is driven by evolutionary forces to love it when we understand things.. this drive is more powerful than sex.
and i really beleive our species will survive and we will use modern technology(also a product of evolution) to help us because that is what it is there for we made it and we will use it.
we are driven to learn and i think we will even tame the ego, to keep learning more and more.
From my study of history I think that the human mind has been the same for about 40 or 50 thousand years. Love, hate, kindness, cruelty, hopes and fears seem pretty constant.
The most powerfull drive experienced by humans is sex because sex is what continues the species. Once human consciousness can be downloaded into machines and our existence is not dependent on sexual reproduction I will then accept the idea of the mind being more powerfull then the genitals, but not before.
At present our minds are no different than the people who lived before Stonehenge or the Pyramids were built. We just have more efficient ways to store knowledge and communicate that knowledge to others. That is not evolution. That is simple learning.

As a Witness I tried to keep a beard twice and was hauled before the Elders each time. Now that I am through with the Watchtower I will never shave again.
My beard is a symbolic F... You to the Watchtower.

but it just doesnt have the ricky gervais factor.
I watch the US show but it is not very good. The second banana comes off as a creep instead of a comedic pompass ass. The main character is mean, vindictive and not funny at all.
The only characters who get their parts right, the woman playing the secretary to the boss and the salesman who is in love with her but is afraid to tell her. They are very good. Everyone and everything else on the US version is horrible.
i just happened across an article titled "the sociology of the ayn rand cult" that was written in 1972 by the libertarian economist murray rothbard.
(ayn rand was the author of the novels the fountainhead and atlas shrugged.
) as i read the article, i noted so many similarities with jws, particularly as regards practices of thought and behavior control (including disfellowshipping, shunning, dividing families, banning forbidden books, discouraging free discussion, claims to being the one source of truth, and so forth).
I read that work in 1993 when I first began reading Ayn Rand. It helped me not to fall into the trap of becoming a "Randroid." It was not enough to make me dismiss Rand as the greatest mind of the 20th century. As a person Rand was not pleasant. As a philosopher she had no equal. I follow the philosophy Rand developed. It is called Objectivism.
Today Objectivism is divided into different schools, the Ayn Rand Institute continues the intolerant strain in Rand's thinking. If Rand said it that is the end of the discussion.
The Objectivist Center looks to Rand as the begining of the discussion. !00% agreement with Rand is not expected and TOC hopes to spread Rand's thought as far and wide as possible.
Philosophy and religion are very similar. The trick is not to let philosophy repeat the mistakes of religious cults of personalities.
Atheism is the only logical position. Everything else is superstition.
from the perspective of this imperfect world, seeing something perfect would seem quite amazing.
such as the omega particle or whatever it was called in star trek.. but what if you lived in a world (or heaven for that matter) where everything was so perfect that it was extremely predictable, and there was never any point in trying to improve anything or fight for a cause and everyone always had the perfect answer for you?.
maybe that's why "god" created the universe and maybe the universe is a perfect way of experiencing randomness?

i see so many people on this board who are angry over what the witnesses took from them.
i often feel the same way, so i try to do something anti-jw every year, which seems to help.
do you know what i'm going to do this year?
I celebrated Christmas until I was 14. Since I was a hardcore Witness I did not miss it at all. Both of my brothers hated not celebrating.
A few years after I left the Watchtower I practised Judaism for five years so I still did not celebrate Christmas.
Now that I am an Athiest, I celebrate the Winter Solstice and tell everyone that I celebrate the pagan holiday that Christmas is based on.
